With a better understanding of the projects of the UNGC (United Nations Global Compact), NPS can more effectively fulfill its social responsibility as a global corporation.

On March 6th, the annual meeting of the UN Global Compact Korea Network was held at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, with 256 corporate members and related personnel in attendance. Three representatives of NPS attended, including Chun, Keun Chul, the chief of the General Administration Department, and the general manager of the Social Responsibility Management Section.

At this annual meeting, the major achievements of the UNGC in 2013 and the business plan for 2014 were presented. The meeting is expected to give members a better understanding of the various UNGC projects and help them establish their own corporate social responsibility management plans.

The commitment to the Global Impact¡¯s ten principles in the four areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption, constitutes the foundation for corporate social responsibility (CSR). Also, the ten principles are in line with several criteria of the government¡¯s evaluation of public institutions, regarding issues such as ethical management, co-prosperity, and job creation for the disadvantaged.

NPS joined the UNGC and its Korea Network in October 2012, and has since exchanged knowledge about corporate social responsibility with other members through its attendance at annual meetings.

What is the UNGC?

As of July 2013, the membership of the UNGC includes over 10,000 companies from 130 countries, promoting the UNGC has been one of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon¡¯s key agenda items since 2006.
